Novemberama

Remember that subsite from here called GPicturama? I know I haven't forgotten about it! It's been awhile since the last post on it, though, and I haven't had too much time to think about it just yet...

Still, I decided to post something on it today: Random Pics! A more thought-out entry will be the next posting, but for now, for the sake of keeping it alive, this'll do.

No More Geocities

Another quick notice in this flurry of busy times... Geocities is no longer in operation. Anything that was on Geocities in the past for Thomas Productions (which refers to anything prior to the directorG.com domain even existed) now has been demolished.

I'm therefore glad that a few months back, I transferred over all of the images from the Washington D.C. fieldtrip to GPicturama! Otherwise, I'd have to start from scratch to repair that site, since none of my pics at that point (in '99) were originally digital yet -- scanned each and every one by hand. I hope I transferred other stuff, too... About to find that out.

More Site Swappage

While not 100% of this article regards Thomas Productions, enough of it does to talk about it here. The Checkoff List, which is linked to from this very index, is being moved from the 2nd site (jimthzz.bingodisk.com/public) to the 3rd site (directorg.uuuq.com) because the 2nd is becoming more and more difficult to transfer files to without needing to force quit and/or restart the computer!!

Okay, now that my rant is over, I'm merely announcing that the Thomas Productions Checkoff List, which lists oft-updated plans about the goings on regarding our movies and web pages (and also includes additional YouTube postings that may or may not be for Thomas Productions), is now hosted at directorG.uuuq.com/temp/checkoff.html.

Generally speaking, the only true remaining part of the site at the 2nd site address is GPicturama. Due to site space needs, it must stay there for the time being.

Telescopic

For the latest GPicturama posting (today's), there is some nature photography that was shot through a telescope!

Not much else to say here... Check it out!

2NuGPixPgs!

Over the past 10 days, starting before my technical difficulties arose, I began incorporating Lytebox while creating two new GPicturama pages! It was about time, too, since there haven't been all that many pics pages yet this year.

The first one (for July 10th's entry) displays moments from a recent trip of mine to Marina State Beach with my girlfriend, Kory. It was during my extended visit at her place at some point during the July 4th weekend, but not actually on that date.

The second one (for July 20th's entry: today's) conveys two more Thomas Productions films unfolding! The Production Photos from both Abrupt (2005) and Scenes from Being John Malkovich (2006) are shown there. They don't yet reflect on those movies' official pages yet, but they're slowly comin' together in a world without GoLive. Check 'em all out!

Upgrades Time

Two things over the past few weeks have spawned room for improvement, so here is the announcement of their upgrades.

First, the appearance of each of the tabs on the main page has a slightly different, more 3D glimmer to them. They used to merely look shaded gray, but now, they look so much better! It's subtle, but an improvement.

Second, there have been troubles over the past few months using Lightbox with GPicturama, getting it to work just right. Well, now, I've discovered Lytebox. Now, things are working just fine! I've not touched up any previous works, but I'm working on a soon-to-appear GPicturama entry, and the problems I was having with Lightbox do not appear with Lytebox. Three cheers to that!

Lightbox 'n' Logo

To spiffy up the Washington D.C. scrapbook image transfer to GPicturama, I've now tried something I've never done before: utilize the official Lightbox scripts and a Javascript location menu!

Aside from all of THAT, I also created a logo image for all of GPicturama! It's a montage of several previous GPicturama images over the years, including one where you can see the tip of my nose and my glasses so that my identity is added to the logo.

It should be worked into more GPicturama pages in the near future... In the meantime, it's in the main page, the Washington D.C. [set of] page[s], and in the test page I first tried the Lightbox scripting experiment out on from 2002!

Trip Transfer

In the announced closing of Geocities, it suddenly hit me: I needed to change the site location of what might be the oldest part of this site, my Trip to Washington D.C. photo album. Then I decided, why not convert it into a set of GPicturama pages?

It seemed perfect to do so, and probably was my very first stab at making such an album page. So, now the Trip to Washington D.C. pages are a part of GPicturama. Though the trip occurred in 1999, the pages are in 2009 because that is the year it was added to that portion of the site.

And now, because it was such a surprisingly awesome film, here's the trailer to this year's Star Trek! Way to go, J.J. Abrams!

Deed is Done

Wahoo! At the Core, reedited for 2009, has officially been submitted to the MVFF, DVD & all. The online entry through Withoutabox occurred a few days ago, and the DVD screener was sent today!

What a relief! And now, a glimpse of what's in store:

Core Photography

In what is the 2nd GPicturama entry of 2009, the official production photos from At the Core (2006) have been posted!

There were actually quite a bit more photos taken, but most did not symbolize or represent that a movie was in production. Instead, they were nice shots of a ranch! So I had to choose wisely, and these were the results.

Soon enough, they'll be viewable from the Media Layer of the movie's page as well, in a scrollable format first introduced by the page for The Nightmare (2007).

Overdue

This post regards three things that are overdue, in one way or another:
  1. Starting today, GPicturama is receiving a facelift. Unbeknownst to me until hours ago, links within the yearly archives had still not been updated since the 2nd site's domain had changed from directorG2.com to jimthzz.bingodisk.com/public.

Thus far, I've fixed things all the way back to 2005, and I'm working to fix the rest by tomorrow. I'm also extending the addition of the hovering image outline to pages I update. Check it out!

  2. I read a blog article today from The Film Experience that arranged a new Top Ten list of actors yet-to-receive-an-Oscar, rearranged now that Kate Winslet has [finally] earned one. You'll never guess who their #1 choice is! Read that article here.

  3. Speaking of overdue Oscar selections, I've been keeping such a list all along, but I don't arrange it like The Film Experience does. Instead, I call it a "Snubbed List," and continually add films by year that should have won for Best Whatevertheawardis, plus other actors that just deserve it. To see it, go here and click "Snubbed List" at the bottom.

Parrots in SF!

On a spontaneous jaunt-by-foot with my dad to visit Coit Tower in San Francisco, I got a bigger bargain than I expected: I also encountered the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill! They were kind, although they squalked quite loudly...

Anyhoo, the whole experience is now up and running at GPicturama, including the journey there and afterward events.

Since I mentioned those lovely parrots, it is only right to show you the trailer for the documentary made about them!

Redirected G

As this site gets rearranged a bit for the purposes of the new 2nd domain (jimthzz.bingodisk.com/public), now GPicturama gets redirected to its new first page from directorG.com/gpicturama to jimthzz.bingodisk.com/public/gpicturama2! The latter URL is a bit more to type, so they each will work, but a brief redirection will occur.

Speaking of things still under construction, there is a new page nearly finished for GPicturama! Remember that huge smoke cloud over California this past summer? Remember how a red sun resulted? Wanna see it again?

Cannery Row Doc

There!  Not only have the movie lists been touched up to be more organized, but now there is a page in existence (finally!) for the movie, Cannery Row Documentary (2006)!

Technically, it does contain production photos that are already online at GPicturama here.  It will just take time to weave them into this page, see...

50th New News Posting

In the midst of announcing the latest GPicturama publication, it just so happens that this is the 50th New News Blog Post! Took just over 1/2 a year to reach, which really is quite amazing in retrospect.

Anyhoo, the latest GPicturama addition regards Edgewood Park Nature Preserve, and an attempt to find an anticipated bench a few miles inward. It's worth checking out.

As an unrelated added bonus, watch this Katie Couric interview clip with Sarah Palin, and then you should understand that there's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why the McCain / Palin duo should EVER reach the White House.

GThieferama

Yup, that's right. More Production Pics have been added to GPicturama, this time for Thief (2006)! I don't know why I didn't do this naturally with all the movies since Three Shorts...

It's in the plans to do like with The Nightmare where these images will be accessible in scrollable form soon. So much to do, so much in mind...

New Design!

Wow, this new design for production pics is quite an improvement, I must say.  Though it's only partly completed, the Production Photos for The Nightmare (2007), which were recently posted at GPicturama, are now also displayed directly at the movie's website!

It's a newer design, complete with scrolling thumbnails and full size capabilities.  Descriptions, too.  Check it out!

Production Nightmare!

Actually, the production of The Nightmare was anything but, because it was excellent! Now, finally, the production photos from that are on our site, at GPicturama!

Soon, they will be viewable through an embedding directly on the movie's page! Until then, they're all still online at the same ol' site. Will keep ya updated on that.

Fireworks!

The latest date added to GPicturama is just a few days ago, but it visually documents where I saw fireworks.  Check it out!

Also, there have been some issues with YouTube embedding on the Tons of Sugar Cereal page this week...  Those should be cleared up by the end of the day.
Lastly, we're now using social bookmarking features from addthis.com, which seem much simpler than what was done before!

Humboldterama

A few months ago, when I went with a friend to Humboldt, I took waaay too many pics. Now I've chosen the best of the bunch and posted them at GPicturama for all to see! Because so many pics were taken throughout the trip, including of a wedding and the Avenue of the Giants, it's the first time one posting includes two pages!
I also dinked around with a few settings there... Check it out!

Latest from GPicturama

Just like yesterday's posting, another part of this site is GPicturama, which is partially related through some of the pictures it shows, but then it's more of a personal portion of the site as well. Today's postings are from a trip to MacWorld Garett took with his girlfriend, Kory, back in January. Here are some sample pics:
